Thailand stated that is the city of agriculture. Soil is a natural resource that is the most important factor for production in agriculture. Agriculture is the main occupation of Thailand. There are 126.56 million Acre in Thailand, and there are areas for growing 51.54  million acre. It is divided into the Northeast about 22.56 million acre, Central part 10.18 million acre, the North 10.97 million acre, and South 7.81 million acre.

 

The surveying of land by the Development Department 2007 found that the decadent area can be divided into 4 levels

1. State of balance nature is 59.7 million acre.
         2. Level monitoring is 51.19 million acre.
         3. The area level of deterioration is 13.83 million acre.
         4. The critical area deteriorated is 72360.61 acre

Cause of the deterioration of soil  

Soil is the most important natural resources. The Soil has a value, Heart of agriculturist and closely with agriculturist. But agriculturist has a little knowledge about soil. The deterioration of soil because agriculturist lack of knowledge in valid. Agriculturists don’t improve soil recovery in normal conditions, besides they use a lot of chemical fertilizer that cause residue in the soil. Mineral nutrients and microorganisms have away from the soil. The soil is not suitable for agriculture. The deterioration of soil brings disease and insect to destroy produce then, famers must increase the use of chemical for elimination of insect, weeds and disease until produce is of poor quality, tasteless and bad investment.

These problems make agriculture poorer, and it concerns the economy of agriculturists and continued economy of the country because agriculture products is a principal good of great income domestic, especially 5 types of principal goods such as rice, cassava, sugarcane, fruit vegetable and rubber tree. When agricultural products are contaminated by, insecticide, herbicide or chemical, the foreign country will reject them and this will have a direct on the economy of the farmers.

The soil then gets worse in quality because it lack microbe, so the growth of every kind of plants fail.

•  Sugarcanes used to plants 30 tons/ rai, but it remains 8-10 tons/ rai.
•  Several yields of plants reduce 100% -200%.
•  Rice used to plant 120 bucket/ rai.
•  Corn used to plant 1,000 kilograms / rai but remain 300- 400 kg/ rai.
•  The yield of cassava after deteriorated soil reduces 20%.
•  Every kind of bean product has been reduced to 200-300%.
•  Fruits also have a lower yield and are tasteless, insect ridden and full of disease.

Therefore, the cause of poverty is the soil deterioration.
